In which I become a hypocrite...

...and do my number one blogging peeve.

Sorry folks.  I hate this.  I really do.  I can not stand it when people beg for comments.  Hopefully, I don't go as low as "begging."  But I really need help with something.

If you have read, or are reading, "Ember Flame" can you please tell me something you think should be in the sequel?  Can you tell me stuff you want to see in the sequel, even if it is not necessarily important?  Anything I should NOT do?  Anything I should do again?

I specifically want help with the characters.  Hail and Caran in particular.  How much backstory do y'all want to see?  None at all?  A lot?  Please help me!  (Oh darn, now I'm begging...)

Again, please except my apologies for doing this.  (facepalm)  I will try not to do this again...but I really need help planning the sequel!

  1. I think either Hail or Ember should die. That's one of the best cures for romance. And I'd like to have a back story for both Caran and Hail, but if I had to chose one of them, I'd chose Hail.
Also, you need to explain the Northern Barbaric, and what's going on over there.
    Have fun writing this November!

  2. NNOOOO don't kill Ember!!!! I think she should become friends with a person that is essential to the story, and then find out that the person is somehow related to her history, or maybe is a relative.

I'm going to think more about this, and comment again later:)

  3. Haha, thanks you two! Sorry Ruth, I don't plan on killing either of em. They are just so dang cute! But I will invent some sort of conflict, don't worry...

Thanks for reminding me about the Northern Barbaric, I had forgotten! I definitely need to explain that!

Interesting you should mention that B, I had a vague idea of adding this dude named Dray who is from Grel and was Ember's only friend until he mysteriously disappeared...I think I am going to do it now!

    Y'all are awesome!

  4. I really want to learn more about the dragons (I love dragons). And I think Ember needs to grow up a little... I love her brattiness/sarcasm, but I don't think you want that to be ALL she is... otherwise my worry would be that she might turn into a "Katniss" type character, sort of one-dimensional.

I'd love back story on both Caran and Hail... but I feel like we got a good amount of "sum up" on Caran in Ember Flame, so I'll toss my vote out there for Hail: not too much back story, though, his mystery is part of his charm.

I'd really like to see Ember's little sister more, see her stick around, and see her remain "normal" (not Leverage), I think of her as turning otu to be kinda spunky and helpful in a crisis. Sometimes it's just nice in fantasy to follow a character who is only "special" because of their character, and not because they're magical/powerful/prophesied about/etc.

  5. Thank you so much! That is great advice. But now I have an extremely daunting task; make Ember grow up. o_O Haha, but I don't want her to end up like Katniss, so I will do it.

I'm glad people don't really want to see Caran's backstory, cuz honestly, I don't have anything super major that I did not tell in Ember Flame.

Good advice for Klina! I didn't really know what I wanted to do with her, but now I do! Thanks! :)

And yes, the dragons will play a bigger role in "Hail Frost." I also plan on telling (after I find out myself...) what Coal had to do with them.

Y'all are awesome! I can't thank you enough for helping me! :)

  6. I deff think something more should happen between Hail and Ember;) I also think somehow Hail should get jealous like if Ember is mildly attracted to someone else. He should try to win her heart, and show off a bit to attract her attention. Oh, and don't forget to add some of that awesome cheekiness;)

Deff make Ember grow up a bit, but keep her just as spunky and loving life.

I would like to see Coal come back into the story, but idk if thats possible....

I don't have much to say about Caran, though.
